ORF musikprotokoll 2026
Vienna (AT)
The ORF musikprotokoll 2026 festival is themed mikro:makro. Everything vibrates, everything resonates—from the microcosm of atomic structures to the macrocosm of the universe.
Artists are invited to make these correspondences tangible through sound, space, and performance. What musical models can be developed from symmetry, resonance, or chance? How can physical data—such as particle tracks, measurements of Martian winds, or simulations of cosmic processes—be translated into musical compositions? And how can art push the boundaries where language and scientific concepts reach their limits?
mikro:makro focuses on the connection between science and art and seeks new forms of listening and understanding. While science relies on evidence, musicians and composers are free to imagine and speculate. They create scenarios in which microscopes and telescopes merge, in which intimate sounds combine with orchestral grandeur, and in which the audience is invited to perceive sound as a bridge between knowledge and experience.
With the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the musikprotokoll 2026 festival presents a variety of concerts, world premieres, performances, and installations that together open up a sonic cosmos in which micro- and macro-levels are reflected.
