Ostrava Days 2025

Ostrava Center for New Music (CZ)

The Ostrava Days Festival supports the careers of young composers and musicians by connecting them with seasoned artists from around the world. This collaboration fosters the exchange of ideas and artistic expression. About one-third of the performed pieces are world premieres, many composed by the participating student composers, who often finalize their works during the festival with valuable feedback from renowned composers and lecturers. The festival avoids the label “student concerts,” ensuring that all works are presented equally.

Ostrava Days showcases a blend of contemporary works by emerging composers and already well-known pieces. Since its launch in 2001, over 250 young composers from 28 countries have participated, enriching a dynamic international community. One of this year’s highlights is the Grand Opening concert in Triple Hall Karolina, featuring three orchestras, three conductors, and a world premiere by Bernhard Lang. Additionally, the Ostrava New Orchestra will present three concerts, featuring both world and Czech premieres.

Set in Central Europe, Ostrava provides an ideal environment for young musicians to collaborate and share their work, fostering lasting international partnerships and creative projects. The festival offers emerging artists and members of the Ostrava New Orchestra valuable opportunities to further their careers and establish global connections. It is proudly supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
