Performance of Unsuk Chin’s Le Chant des Enfants des Étoiles
Konzerthaus Berlin (DE)
Composed between 2015 and 2016 and recently revised, Le Chant des Enfants des Étoiles is the largest-scale concert work by Korean composer and Ernst von Siemens Music Prize winner Unsuk Chin. The instrumentation includes a mixed choir, a soloist, an organ, and an orchestra of nearly 100 musicians. Despite its prominent place in Chin’s body of work, the piece has never before been performed in concert in German-speaking countries. In April 2027, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin plans to present Le Chant des Enfants des Étoiles for the first time in Germany, together with the Groot Omroep Koor—which previously performed the Dutch premiere—and the Staats- und Domchor Berlin.
The German premiere of Le Chant des Enfants des Étoiles, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, marks the highlight of Unsuk Chin’s tenure as Composer-in-Residence for the 2026–27 season at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
