Portrait Concert: Iris ter Schiphorst

To mark the 70th birthday of German composer Iris ter Schiphorst, the Heroines of Sound Festival is dedicating a special program to this pioneering composer, featuring a portrait concert.

Iris ter Schiphorst integrated sign language and performers into her works at an early stage. With her new work, planned in collaboration with the internationally renowned, deaf Japanese conceptual and sound artist Christine Sun Kim, ter Schiphorst is setting new trends and expanding the cross-disciplinary terrain.

The portrait concert will take place on July 11, 2026, as part of the Heroines of Sound Festival. The program will feature works that combine performance, electronics, and instrumental sounds.

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is making the portrait concert dedicated to Iris der Schiphorst at the Heroines of Sound Festival possible.
