SONIC MATTER 2027

The SONIC MATTER Festival 2027 is themed World Building and explores music and sound as a means of shaping social, cultural, and aesthetic spaces. The focus is on how experimental music can give rise to new forms of community, exchange, and perception. The festival views sound as a unifying element that connects diverse musical traditions, perspectives, and working methods. Local and international voices come together, opening up spaces where differences become visible and can be productively negotiated. This gives rise to temporary contexts that challenge existing narratives and enable new connections. World Building thus describes a curatorial approach focused on networking, transformation, and long-term exchange. The festival, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, creates platforms for artistic experimentation and encourages dialogue between artists, audiences, and diverse cultural contexts.
