spatial works and immersive music 2025

ZiMMT, Leipzig (DE)

swim 2025 is the next edition of ZiMMT’s year-round concert and installation series swim (spatial works and immersive music), which provides a stage for artistic research in music with spatial approaches and makes it accessible to an ever-growing audience.

In 2025, the cross-genre approach of the curation is particularly in focus. With a diverse lineup of internationally renowned musicians including Louis Dufort, eNμ, Gerriet K. Sharmer, LOUFR (Piotr Bednarczyk), mʊdʌki (Polina Khatsenka), UN-Sync and Sofıa Zaiceva, swim 2025 builds a bridge that spans from contemporary instrumental music to electroacoustic compositions, experimental electronic live music and from sound art to multimedia approaches.

swim 2025 offers an extraordinary, aesthetically diverse programme with a total of four concerts and two sound installations by 9 local and international artists and ensembles. Genres that are often still located in different cultural spheres and otherwise appeal to different target groups are deliberately linked by curators in order to reach a larger and more diverse audience and thus expand the cultural dialogue. Besides the differences on which the focus is placed, what all the works have in common is the intensive artistic examination of sound in space as a compositional stylistic device using multi-channel 3D sound systems. All the works are united by the immersive form of presentation.

swim 2025 is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
