Steven Takasugi's Piano Concerto (Sinfonietta Version)

In May 2027 Monday Evening Concerts presents the US West Coast premiere of Steven Kazuo Takasugi’s Piano Concerto (Sinfonietta Version). Featuring pianist Todd Moellenberg, conductor Jonathan Hepfer, and 17 musicians from the ensemble-in-residence Echoi, the 50-minute work for piano, chamber orchestra, and live electronics reimagines the concerto form through complex algorithmic structures and integrated electronic mediation.

Alongside the performance, MEC will host a public discussion with the artists examining the work’s compositional strategies and the expanded role of electronics in contemporary music.

This performance is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
