The Shape of Sound to Come

Founded in 1973, the ensemble L’Itinéraire emerged from the French spectral music movement. Its founding members were composers and musicians Gérard Grisey, Michaël Levinas, Roger Tessier, Tristan Murail, and Hugues Dufourt.

In 2027, the ensemble will celebrate Tristan Murail’s 80th birthday with The Shape of Sound, a concert program featuring a newly commissioned work for ondes Martenot and ensemble. The commission highlights Murail’s dual career as a composer and ondes Martenot performer.

The Shape of Sound to Come will also feature world premieres by Imsu Choi, Tobias Feierabend, and Kévin Juillerat. Each performance will include a work by a local composer, with a curatorial focus on women and underrepresented voices.
