Tour of the Ensemble Musikfabrik

Musikfabrik Landesensemble NRW, Cologne (DE)

Together with various partners, the Ensemble Musikfabrik has commissioned new works which will be premiered, performed for the first time or revived as part of a tour in major halls and at important festivals. The tour of the Ensemble Musikfabrik is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The soloists on the tour are the British soprano Juliet Fraser and the German percussionist Dirk Rothbrust, conducted by Enno Poppe.

The programme includes several world premieres, including a new work by Michael Jarrell for percussion, ensemble and electronics; Carsten Trio (2021) for violin, accordion and percussion; and a Brass Quintet (2023) by Georges Aperghis; Rebecca Saunders’ All that Dust (2022) for percussion and string quintet; Micro-Morphose (2023/24) for solo percussion, piano (prepared), bass clarinet, trombone and double bass by Claudia Jane Scroccaro; and a new work (2023/24) by Sarah Nemtsov for ensemble. In addition, Rebecca Saunders’ work Yes (2016/17) a spatialized performance for soprano, 19 soloists and conductor with texts from the last chapter of Ulysses, Molly Bloom, by James Joyce will receive its German premiere.

The concerts will take place as part of Wien Modern at the Musikverein Vienna, the WDR Funkhaus Cologne, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and at Manifeste 2024 in Paris.
