Walden
Stichting Ensemble Klang
Ensemble Klang and Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop are developing a new production of Walden by Heiner Goebbels. The project brings the two ensembles together to revisit a work that has played an important role in Ensemble Klang’s artistic development.
Based on texts by Henry David Thoreau, Walden is a staged concert combining music, spoken word, light, and performance. It explores our relationship with nature, self-reliance, and civil disobedience, using strings, winds, percussion, and specially built instruments such as Bob Rutman’s steel cello and bow chimes, as well as Hans Reichel’s daxophone.
For this new production, the six musicians of Ensemble Klang will work with the five string players of Kaleidoskop. The production also includes Keir Neuringer, narrator of the original ensemble version, and lighting designer Marc Théin.
This project is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
