(Wieder)Begegnungen 2026/27

Collegium Novum Zürich (CH)

For over three decades, the Collegium Novum Zürich (CNZ) has been dedicated to the consistent promotion and development of contemporary music. Under the title (Wieder)Begegnungen, the CNZ focuses on its own performance history, linking the past with the present.

More than 200 works have been commissioned and premiered since the ensemble’s founding. Seven earlier commissions are now returning to the Brunnenhof in Zurich: compositions by Ann Cleare, Xavier Dayer, Thomas Kessler, Sergej Newski, Enno Poppe, Lucia Ronchetti, and Iris ter Schiphorst will be presented once again. These revivals exemplify the ensemble’s artistic continuity and bring to life once again defining works from the past decades. The CNZ pairs these works from its own history with 13 world premieres. In doing so, the program brings together diverse aesthetic styles and international perspectives.

In parallel with the concert series at the Brunnenhof, the CNZ continues its series of conversation concerts at the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich. On five Sundays, the ensemble invites a composer to participate in a conversation. Musicians from the CNZ perform the guest’s solo or chamber music works, followed by a moderated discussion with the composer, before the pieces are performed a second time.

The season’s concerts, (Wieder)Begegnungen 2026/27, are made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
