On December 12, 2024 at 7 pm, Minzuo Lu will present her new work Ihr, Monolog as part of the Young Composer’s Forum.
This year, the Chinese composer Minzuo Lu (1991) was selected for the Young Composer’s Forum by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. Minzuo Lu has been commissioned to compose a piece and will curate the concert in which her work will be performed for the first time. Ihr, Monolog is the title of this piece, which marks the beginning of a new series of works for the young composer. “The title aims to explore my understanding of ‘beauty’ in an inner dialogue in the various phases of my growing up, as well as to ask my questions about ‘beauty’,” says Lu.
Minzuo Lu studied with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe and with Xiaoyong Chen in Hamburg. Works by both will also be played on this evening. The ensemble der/gelbe/klang will perform.
The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation launched the Young Composer’s Forum on the initiative of and in collaboration with the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. Young composers present themselves with a new work and also curate the rest of the concert program with works from the 20th and 21st centuries. The project serves to promote young talent as well as to expand the repertoire of contemporary music.
