Frank Madlener

Frank Madlener is a cultural and artistic manager, and the director of the IRCAM music research institute in Paris. He studied music (piano, conducting) and philosophy in France, Belgium and Austria. He has overseen many festivals and musical events. Madlener served as the artistic director of the European Mozart Foundation (Cracow and Budapest) as well as the Ars Musica festival in Brussels and Musica in Strasbourg. In 1999, he co-founded Réseau Varèse, an international research institute devoted to promoting contemporary compositions. Since 2012, Madlener has served as artistic director of ManiFeste Festival and Academy, general manager of IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique), a dynamic and innovative research institute founded at the Centre Pompidou in the late 1970s. He also launched the Vertigo Forum at Centre Pompidou for Art, Design, Architecture, Science and Engineering.
