Winrich Hopp
Winrich Hopp first completed music studies in Darmstadt, then studied musicology and philosophy in Freiburg/Breisgau. He worked as a press officer at the Cultural Office of the City of Dresden for the Dresden Centre for Contemporary Music, was commissioned in 1997 with the artistic production and dramaturgy for the musica viva concert series at Bayerischer Rundfunk, and in 2002 moved to the Art Foundation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, where he was appointed to its board. He was, among other things, a member of the board of the Institute for New Music and Music Education Darmstadt and a founding member of the International Ensemble Modern Akademie e.V. Frankfurt/M. Since 2006, he has been the artistic director of the Musikfest Berlin, which is organised by the Berliner Festspiele in cooperation with the Stiftung Berliner Philharmoniker, and since 2011, he has also been the artistic director of the “musica viva” of the Bayerischer Rundfunk. Winrich Hopp is a full member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts and a member of the board of trustees of the SWR Experimental Studio.
