räsonanz – Lucerne 2017

Wolfgang Rihm

Wolfgang Rihm stands as one of the most prolific and versatile composers of our time. With an inexhaustible imagination, vibrant creative energy, and keenness for self-reflection, he has crafted a diverse body of work that encompasses over four hundred compositions across several musical genres. Rihm’s music reflects a belief in the unshakable spirit of the creative individual, capable of upholding its strength and dignity in the face of all external challenges.

A musician of vast cultural insight, Rihm regularly engages other art forms, yet he has never withdrawn into an ivory tower. His philosophically guided reflections on the complexities of artistic creation are insightful to both listeners and readers alike.
