1st International Composition Academy and Competition

In September 2026, International Kalamata Music Days will hold its first International Composition Academy and Competition. Over six days, selected emerging composers will work with Miroslav Srnka and Yiran Zhao and five members of TETTTIX Ensemble.

Participants are chosen through an open international call for scores. The program includes individual mentoring sessions, presentations, workshops, and open rehearsals, where composers can work directly with the musicians on their pieces and explore questions of notation, sound, and interpretation.

The Academy will take place at the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata and end with a public concert at the Kalamata Dance Megaron. Two participants will be awarded commissions to write new works for the 2027 Academy.
