Donaueschinger Musiktage 2025

Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde, Donaueschingen (DE)

This year, the Donaueschinger Musiktage will feature 20 world premieres in which artists raise their voices in both the literal and figurative sense and together achieve a great polyphony.

In his 45-minute conversation for solo viola and six singers with Tabea Zimmermann and EXAUDI, Georges Aperghis stages constantly shifting constellations between instrumental and human voices in an attempt to cheer up the audience in politically gloomy times. In La Nuda Voce, Francesca Verunelli explores the moment when the voice leaves the body, when the vibrations of the vocal cords become song – for Verunelli, a political gesture par excellence. Hanna Eimermacher, on the other hand, incorporates her own voice, recorded and processed in the studio, into her concert-length sound-space choreography Aura as part of the ‘sound embrace’ of the audience, which is positioned in the middle of an ellipse formed by 19 musicians and two conductors.

Donaueschingen residents also raise their voices in public spaces: On the square on Karlstraße, amateur choirs from the city and surrounding area will sing a new composition by Gordon Kampe as part of a community project.

The Donaueschinger Musiktage 2025 are supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
